An oasis of art and artists, Mexican history and culture, San Miguel de Allende is located in the high mountains of central Mexico. My home, Casa de Juanita, can be your home during your visit to this secluded destination.

The Path to Casa de Juanita

A flight to Del Bajío International Airport (BJX) in León, Guanajuato, from the U.S. west coast, Dallas, Houston, or Atlanta, and a 1:20 minuite drive to San Miguel will bring you to your home away from home.

Located less than a mile from San Miguel's central square, El Centro, Casa de Juanita is an easy stroll (or very short drive) to historic colonial buildings and homes, museums, art galleries, shops offering clothing, handicrafts, furniture, and decorative pieces of all kinds, and a variety of restaurants.

What is Casa de Juanita All About?

A comfortable and convenient home base for a leisurely exploration of all that San Miguel has to offer, Casa de Juanita is a two-story, 1,750 sq. ft. home with a living room, dining room, and large kitchen downstairs, and a master bedroom and one guest bedroom upstairs, both with a private bathroom and shower. The master bedroom balcony overlooks the private front patio, which opens onto the street through a large door.

Located in San Miguel's Colonial Guadaloupe section of mostly Spanish-speaking residents, Casa de Juanita is an authentic old-style Mexican barrio home, but with the interior furnishings, personal conveniences, and modern services one expects to find in any comfortable and secure holiday home.

A small, well-stocked market just across the street from Casa de Juanita will provide you with food and drink, and most of the incidental items you may need. The housekeeper, Carmen, comes in three times a week, and trash is picked up regularly.

About San Miguel de Allende. . .

A small city known worldwide for its mild climate, beautiful colonial architecture, and thermal springs, San Miguel is located about 7,000 feet above sea level in the state of Guanajuato, in the central mountainous region of Mexico. San Miguel's cosmopolitan atmosphere and flourishing cultural scene, its variety of entertainment venues, and its well-known schools of art, Spanish language and culture, and authentic Mexican cooking, have helped attract tourists and expatriates from many countries.

With its picturesque cobblestone streets and flower-filled patios, San Miguel rests on a hillside above the Laja River. Its most recognizable landmark is the beautiful La Parroquia San Miguel Arcángel, the town's parish church, completed in 1730. Founded by the Franciscan monk Fray Juan de San Miguel in 1542, San Miguel was declared a national monument in 1926.
